1) The sound of a snowboarder striking a healthy middle-aged aspen tree at roughly fifteen miles per hour is best phoeneticized by:
a) ZOKK!
b) SCHLWOP!
c) PRROUIQUE!
d) BRMPF!
I think the closest answer is D, but no words can do justice to the awful feeling of a solid whack to the head. You know, the ones where you're pretty sure you felt your brain move in your skull. The moment after contact, I experienced a split-second of what I can only describe as pixellated vision. Fortunately, things quickly returned to normal. Then I realized how much my ass hurt. I'm a lucky lucky boy in that the butt took most of the damage (and has a nasty bruise as proof). The doctor said it was nothing serious, though I might have "slight pelvic rotation", which sounds horrific to me.
Before I leave, I have to get my hands on a Japanese school-related clip-art CD. This is going to be the cover of my band's first album:

Only in Japan could an anthropomorphized urine sample cup be so enthusiastic about its duty. (Schools have much more responsibility for the health of their students here. With the new school year come evaluations aplenty. Urine sample day was last Wednesday. Height/weight measurement day was last Friday. Heartrate checkup day is next week sometime.)
Just for fun...drunk teachers!

Three and a half months to go in Japan. Excited, but sad.
