Pain Is...

...missing the NFL's opening weekend, which dawns in less than forty minutes. The guys are probably struggling to make it through the pregame, already drunk and fully gorged in a classic case of early-season overexertion. And here I am, at 1:22 on Monday morning, anticipating another glorious day of futile attempts to mold Sapporo's youth into fluent (or at least coherent) English speakers. Perhaps this is why I spent most of my day translating the fine print of Japanese satellite TV pamphlets. That's right. I'm so desperate to get my NFL fix that I'll probably end up paying about $40 a month to see one tape-delayed game a week. And I'll be lucky if I see more than one Vikings game all season. Yet Tim (who's going to pitch in a bit for the football package - Rams fan) and I agree, it is the right thing to do. Now if they could just ship some decent burritos over here, it'd almost be like home.

Skol Vikings.
